Biography

Patrick Gallegos is the founding Principal of Gallegos Lighting Design, <http://www.gld-global.com>  a company he founded in 1983.  Gallegos Lighting provides full service lighting design through all phases of project design and development in support of architectural, show, and theatrical lighting design needs:   concept development, budget development and tracking, mock-ups, design documents, construction coordination, programming, and maintenance documentation.

Patrick Gallegos  has been designing environments in light since 1974.  Patrick has an educational background in theater arts, literature, philosophy, and theology at the undergraduate level at the University of San Francisco and a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from UCLA.

After working post academically in theatrical lighting design, Patrick began his architectural lighting career as a Senior Lighting Designer on Walt Disney’s EPCOT Center, working for Disney’s famed Walt Disney Imagineering design and master planning think tank. Since founding Gallegos Lighting in 1983, Patrick has built an extensive portfolio of projects, focusing on using the power of light to create environments that emphasize and enhance the human experience.

Patrick maintains overall design direction while allowing the talents of the designers at GLD to reflect their own artistry within a tightly structured production outflow.

Patrick is a past president of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and is committed to the success of all types of experiential projects. His work has been recognized with numerous awards including: International Association of Lighting Designers; Illuminating Engineering Society; American Institute of Architects; Themed Entertainment Association; General Electric; and Cooper Lighting.
