Monty Lunde is a founding partner and President/CEO of Technifex, an entertainment company specializing in the design, engineering and production of unique attractions, iconic features, exhibits and special effects. 

Lunde and his business partner formed Technifex in 1984 with the goal of producing state-of-the-art special effects for theme parks, promotional and leisure environments.  The company has grown to service both entertainment and government entities that require unique and robust technical systems.  Lunde is involved with many of the corporate aspects of the company, including marketing, contract negotiations, project planning and general corporate oversight.  With his design training and experience, Lunde is also active in the conceptual development of new effects and show features for theme parks, casinos, trade shows and other experiential entertainment venues.  Lunde is a named inventor of several patented technologies.

In 1991, Lunde founded and organized the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), a professional association that represents developers, designers, fabricators and consultants within the Themed Entertainment and leisure industries. The association represents over 1000 members who employ an estimated 12,000-15,000 professionals around the world.  Lunde was President and Chairman of the TEA in 1992 and 1993.  In 1996 he received an award for “Outstanding Achievement” from the TEA for his contributions to the Theme Entertainment industry.  Lunde currently serves on the Past Presidents committee, the Thea Awards committee and is an ex-officio member of the International Board of Directors.

Lunde served on the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) International Board of Directors from 2003-2005.   In addition to serving as a board member, Lunde has served on various IAAPA committees for over 20 years, including the Education, Manufacturer & Supplier, Space Allocation (trade show) and Membership committees.  

Before founding Technifex, Lunde spent three years as a special effects prototype designer for Walt Disney’s WED Enterprises, in Glendale, California.  Disney recruited Lunde directly out of Stanford University to design and construct prototype special effects for various attractions at EPCOT center.  Major attractions Lunde contributed his talents to include the Horizons, American Adventure, Imagination and Mexico pavilions.

Lunde graduated from Stanford University in 1981 with degrees in both Design and Human Biology.  Upon graduating, Lunde received the Harley Earl Award for excellence as a design student.  Lunde was also active on the Stanford Lacrosse team and a trumpet player in the Stanford Band.
