In France, 64 join TEA group to visit Puy du Fou, the unique historical theme park and Thea Award recipient

"One of the benefits of membership in the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) is their organization of visits to some of the best the world has to offer, to see what they do and how they do it. And I have just come back from Puy du Fou," writes brand experience consultant Johnny Lyle. He had joined a group of 64 people from 10 different countries on a 2-day educational excursion (July 2-3) organized by the TEA Europe & Middle East Division (EME) to visit the unique, historical theme park in France, Puy du Fou.

Lyle describes Puy du Fou as "a total one of a kind and without any of the conventional rides you associate with other theme parks. It draws in the local community, trains all its own staff through its academy, creates everything internally (even the shoes and costumes) and delivers spectacular, emotive and beautiful shows that you have to see to believe." Lyle goes on to describe the Puy du Fou attractions in detail. Read his full article here.

In 2012, TEA presented Puy du Fou with the Thea Classic Award, a top industry honor reserved for outstanding, breakthrough visitor attractions that have stood the test of time. The Thea Awards Committee described the park as a "unique, world class destination and an international leader in its field, combining history-based content with smart technologies and fabulous performances," and praising it for "creativity, quality, and daring infused with passion, talent, volunteerism and inspired leadership." The Puy du Fou visit was part of the popular SATE Academy Day program created by David Willrich of DJ Willrich Ltd., who is President of the TEA EME Division. SATE Academy Days are based on the concept of TEA's annual, 2-day SATE conference. The acronym refers to Storytelling + Architecture + Technology = Experience. The idea has spread, and other TEA Divisions will soon be announcing SATE Academy Days in other parts of the world.

These professional development and networking gatherings and behind-the-scenes tours provide TEA members with the opportunity to share experiences and insights.
