The TEA booth (#1351) will be set up for business networking and announcements at the 2014 IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Nov 18-21, 2014. TEA will also host mixers, a panel discussion and its annual Member Meeting during the show.

Nov. 18 (Tuesday):

  • 2 pm: TEA Thea Awards Announcement - Revealing the projects and people that will be honored at the Thea Awards Gala on March 21. The news will be released online shortly afterward. More info
  • 6pm - 9:30 pm: TEA International Mixer at Dewey's Indoor Golf & Sports Grill.  


Nov 19 (Wednesday):

  • 8:30 am: TEA Annual Member Meeting (Convention Center - Conference Room S330CD). New and outgoing Board members will be acknowledged, Division heads and other TEA leaders will give reports, and outgoing TEA president Christine Kerr of BaAM Productions will officially pass the gavel to incoming TEA president Steve Birket of Birket Engineering.

 


Nov 20 (Thursday):

  • 9am - 10:15am: TEA Presents Future Legends "Transforming Experience," Room: S310GH. Panel discussion moderated by Christian Lachel (BRC Imagination Arts). Speakers include Clara Rice (JRA), John Paul Geurts (Nickelodeon Recreation) and Steve Trowbridge (Rhetroactive Inc.) Explore topics such as wearable technology, 3-D printed worlds, and how the very nature of design is changing to meet the desires of a new generation of global visitors. Discover insights gained from case studies that demonstrate the transformation of attraction design in the 21st century. Hear how the attractions industry is responding to these challenges and the opportunities that they offer the designers of immersive experiences. 
  • 4pm - 6pm: Special TEA Booth Mixer, Sponsored by Medialon, Booth #1351 on the IAAPA Attractions Expo show floor

Wed Nov 19

  • 3:30-6:15 pm: Legends Session moderated by Bob Rogers of BRC Imagination Arts, with Disney greats Bob Gurr, Marty Sklar, Alice Davis and Richard Sherman. Room: S330AB. The focus will be on the 1964 New York World's Fair. The panel will reveal some of the behind-the-scenes stories of how Walt Disney used the world's fair platform to launch his plans for his biggest stage - the secret “Project Future” in Florida. Each of the four speakers helped create the Disney portions of the fair, and they will share stories and leadership lessons from that experience. Marty Sklar was writer and Disney liaison to major sponsors; Bob Gurr was vehicle system designer and creator of the body mechanics of the original Mr. Lincoln; Alice Davis was Costume Designer for the original It’s a Small World. There will be an introduction by current Disney Executive Vice President (but then a guest at the Fair), Tom Fitzgerald, plus a special video appearance by Richard Sherman, Composer and Lyricist. Following the session, the panelists will remain in the room to sign books, posters, DVDs and CDs. 

Thurs. Nov 20

  • TEA Team at Footprints from the Heart IAAPA 5k at Give Kids the World Village, 210 South Bass Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746. Registration: 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. - Race Start: 8:00 a.m. Run, walk, or just donate to this charity event for GKTW, a nonprofit that exists to fulfill the wishes of children with life threatening illness. This year will be the third time TEA has organized a team for this event -  in 2012 & 2013 TEA took home the TOP Team Fundraiser Award! $30 Team Registration to Walk/Run; $35 to be a Team Cheerleader (includes Pancake Breakfast!)
