TEA mixer at Tokyo Kitty in Cincinnati - Clara Rice reports

More than 30 industry professionals gathered in Cincinnati in April 2019 for a networking mixer organized by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Eastern North America Division, at Tokyo Kitty, a Japanese-style karaoke bar owned by new TEA member, Gorilla Cinema Presents.

Gorilla Cinema Presents is a creative experiences company that has imaginatively helped to transform Cincinnati's food and beverage scene with a series of film-inspired concept bars and restaurants. In addition to Tokyo Kitty, Gorilla Cinema venues include a rustic lodge bar inspired by "The Shining," a video store speakeasy inspired by Quentin Tarantino, and a mid-Century modern restaurant, Lonely Pine Steakhouse. The company just announced its latest bar concept, Mexican-inspired "La Ofrenda," opening in Cincinnati's historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood later this summer.

"We have been working hard to host networking opportunities for our members outside of the core theme park hubs like Orlando and LA to get together, share ideas, and see cool things,” said TEA Eastern Division Board President Melissa Ruminot of The Companies of Nassal. "With its large creative community, we consider Cincinnati to be one of the upcoming new hubs for the Eastern Division, and were so excited to celebrate that community at the home of one of our newest members. Much like TEA, Gorilla Cinema always has one foot in the future, and we look forward to collaborating on more events with owner Jacob Trevino and his team."

"It was such an honor to host such a wide variety of creators at our venue with the TEA," said Trevino. "To see creators from all aspects of themed entertainment share our space and their visions for creating great moments really made it a special event."

Many thanks to TEA International Board member Clara Rice of JRA for providing this article.
