TEA mixer and behind-the-scenes at Sally Dark Rides draws a full house

Under the umbrella of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Eastern North America Division, TEA member company Sally Dark Rides hosted a unique, behind-the-scenes gathering - a "Robot Factory Party" - at its headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida on December 6, 2019, with a full house of nearly 100 people. Rich Hill of Sally Dark Rides said, "Our sold-out TEA event at Sally Dark Rides’ Robot Factory was a lot of fun! We turned the Art Finish department into “Club Sally” with music, animated lights, a bar…we even had an animatronic Sally robot spinning records!  After hitting the taco bar, visitors could join John Wood, Lauren Weaver and myself as we gave tours through Sally headquarters, showing event attendees the history of the company and explaining how we design and build our award-winning dark rides for theme parks all over the world.  We even had an interactive contest in our theater where guests could “blast ghosts” in a scene from one of our Scooby-Doo dark rides.  Players with the 10 high scores got to take home fun prizes!  It was a great night of meeting new industry friends and catching up with old ones.”

Lauren Wood Weaver of Sally Dark Rides said, “We had such a great time hosting a fun crew of themed entertainment folks near and far – from Florida to California!  It was a special privilege to have everyone at the shop - familiar faces and new friends. We gave three tours of our facility and were able to show off past projects, recent projects, and even elements of some new ones on the horizon. It was an opportunity to show everyone where we’ve been and where we’re going. Dark rides from Scooby-Doo to Garfield, and animatronics from T-Rex to DJ Sally. And because we love competitive gameplay, and this is the TEA after all, we had a little themed competition – some lucky winners went home with ‘Dark Ride It’ red (wine)! Thanks to all who attended - I hope everyone enjoyed the evening as much as we did.”
