Celebrating the 26th annual TEA Thea Awards recipients

The weekend of April 16-18, 2020 was to have been the weekend of the annual TEA Summit and TEA Thea Awards Gala, presented by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). Due to COVID-19, both events were rescheduled to later in the year (July 9th, 10th and 11th) but the July dates have now been canceled.

Despite not being able to meet in person in 2020, the 26th Annual TEA Thea Awards recipients will be celebrated in a series of online Thea Case Studies taking place in 2020. Information will appear soon on the TEA Events Page and in the official Thea Awards blog. These are important annual events of many years' standing, key forums for education, networking and celebration, and a regular part of many people's yearly itineraries.

We are all missing the events themselves and the sense of community and celebration that are part and parcel of the big weekend. But we can still pay tribute to the slate of recipients, even though they have not yet had the chance to give their presentations at Thea Case Studies Day, nor to be formally and officially awarded their trophies at the TEA Thea Awards Gala presented by Chimelong.

As is customary, TEA announces the slate of recipients in November, to be awarded the following year. The 26th annual TEA Thea Awards recipients were named in November 2019 from the TEA booth at IAAPA Expo in Orlando. They were named and described in the official press release - and more information on each recipient is available in TEA's online gallery of Thea Awards recipients. We congratulate them. We invite you to learn more about them. And we all look forward to a future time when we can experience them in person - and when we will be able to travel and meet at the TEA Summit and Thea Awards Gala to recognize some of the greatest achievements of the global themed entertainment industry.

A champagne toast officially kicks off the 2018 TEA Thea Awards Gala, led by Su Zhigang, Chairman of Chimelong, the presenting sponsor, and Jennie Nevin, TEA Chief Operating Officer.

We shared a selection of videos from past TEA Thea Awards Galas between April 16 and April 25, 2020 - some top presentations and trophy moments - to mark the period when under normal circumstances these events would dominate our calendars, and to remind us of our great industry and community and how special it is to gather in person for the big weekend. These treats can be found as watch parties on the TEA Facebook page. You can dig deeper into TEA's extensive video archives here on TEA TV, and you can browse past Summit and Gala programs here.
