Seattle mixer helps TEA continue to grow in the Pacific Northwest

It has been a goal of the Western North America Division of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) to grow its presence regionally, and the March 6, 2018 mixer in was an encouraging step in that direction.

The TEA Western Division has been developing the Pacific Northwest with some excellent past events in Vancouver, and the Seattle mixer continued the trend. The idea of a Seattle mixer was enthusiastically promoted by TEA Western Division president, Tricia Rodriguez of Mad Systems, and TEA Western Division Board member Ian Klein of Vizir Productions, a Los Angeles-based creative consultancy that hosted the mixer (Tricia and Ian are pictured at top.)

This intimate gathering of some two dozen people included current TEA members as well as prospective members who were motivated to learn more about TEA and the opportunities our industry affords. There were engineers, creative consultants, composers, producers, fabricators, and experience designers. The group was comprised of both industry veterans and professional talent.

It was a thrill all around to make this event a reality, and bring TEA to Seattle in this way. The excitement was palpable. Not only were many guests meeting one another for the first time, thus strengthening this community of experience creators, everyone was galvanized at the prospect of playing a continued role in its expansion.

By the end of the event, there had been many expressions of interest about how to become further involved in TEA and even offers to host future events in the greater Seattle area.

Our group met in a beautiful private residence at the of heart Seattle’s burgeoning tech neighborhood of South Lake Union.

Seattle’s ever-expanding tech industry is ripe for engagement, with Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, and others all taking part in changing the Seattle skyline, and the role that technology plays in the creation of themed entertainment experiences - and we were very pleased that Microsoft was among the companies welcomed into the TEA professional circle at this mixer. TEA member companies at the mixer included The Hettema Group, Hötopp, MODE Studios, OpenEye Global, and The TWT Group.

There is definitely a Pacific Northwest momentum building for TEA and the TEA Western Division, and we're looking forward to building upon it. We heard from a number of industry players who weren't able to attend but were anxious to help participate in growing this regional presence - and we hope to hear from more of you.

Many thanks to all who helped to make this event a successful reality!
