TEA announces Thea recipients, welcomes new Board members, networks and connects at IAAPA Expo Orlando 2019

Every year, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) participates in the three annual IAAPA Expos - Europe, Asia and US. Taking part in these vital international forums for the attractions industry is one of the ways TEA contributes to the dialogue that serves our membership and the global business community, as well as supporting the great work of IAAPA. The TEA presence at IAAPA Expo Orlando in November 2019 included a booth, press conference, and numerous events.

IAAPA Expo week is when TEA announces the new slate of annual TEA Thea Award Recipients, convenes its annual member meeting, installs new Board leadership and hosts its bustling international mixer. Special opportunities are built in for TEA NextGen members. In this way we wrap up the calendar year, acknowledge our community, celebrate accomplishments and milestones and look ahead to what's next.

New TEA International Board President Michael Blau of Adirondack Studios made the announcement. A number of the recipients were represented in the crowd at the press conference. In 2020, the Thea Awards recipients will be showcased July 9-10 at the TEA Summit and Thea Case Studies, then formally awarded July 11 at the black-tie TEA Thea Awards Gala presented by Chimelong. Ticket sales are open now for both events, which take place at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. Photos for TEA by Martin Palicki. PHOTO GALLERY    OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE & DESCRIPTIONS    TICKET SALES

The support of TEA sponsors and partners and the contributions of volunteers working in cooperation with TEA staff are essential to the high caliber and success of the TEA presence at this IAAPA Expo as well as those in Europe and Asia, and we express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to them all.

As newly installed TEA International Board President, Michael Blau addressed the members meeting, followed by TEA COO Jennie Nevin. They shared some high points of the current status of the association; TEA is in good condition fiscally, with membership on the rise and a full calendar of well-attended events (more than 100 annually). TEA now boasts more than 1,700 member companies worldwide, and within that membership, 48 countries are represented. The TEA Division Board Presidents each gave a recap of the year for their Divisions and talked about future goals.

TEA members who attend IAAPA Expo have the opportunity to enjoy some of the benefits of membership, making the most of hospitality, networking opportunities and refreshments provided at the TEA booth. Two popular and well attended mixers held at the booth were the TEA NextGen Meet and Greet (Nov 20), and the Barco-sponsored TEA Booth Member Mixer (Nov 21). Many thanks to the generosity of TEA sponsors, the hard work of volunteers, and the support of members which is essential to the success of these and other events.

commemorating TEA's participation in the "Footprints from the Heart" 5k at IAAPA benefiting
Give Kids the World Village.

TEA members also participated in the annual IAAPA Footprints from the Heart 5kRun/1k Walk (Nov 21). This charity event raises funds for Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit resort that provides cost-free vacations for children with life-threatening illness. 2019 marked the 8th year of TEA participating. Many thanks to TEA team captain Matt Barton (TEA EME Division Board President) and all who took part. The TEA team raised over $4,000 and came in second place for Team Fundraiser.

Many thanks to the fantastic contributions of volunteers and TEA staff
for everything they did to help make the TEA presence at IAAPA 2019 successful.

Many Thanks to our TEA Global Partners:
