TEA Behind the Scenes at Universal Studios Singapore Halloween Horror Nights 9 - Mason Schmitz reports

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Asia Pacific Division organized a behind the scenes event at Universal Studios Singapore to explore Halloween Horror Nights 9, on 5 October 2019. Over 50 TEA members and their guests attended.

Information and photos for this report were provided by TEA Asia Pacific Division Board Member Mason Schmitz, Director, P+A Projects, an architectural design firm in Singapore and one of the sponsors of this event.

The afternoon started with a “behind the screams” tour of the flagship haunted house, “The Curse of Naga.” Universal Studios Singapore created this haunted house in a unique collaboration with Thai horror film directors; it transports guests to the streets of Bangkok and a forsaken village haunted by the Serpentine Spirit. Tour guides shared some scare tactic techniques and explained the storyline to our TEA group during the behind the scenes experience.

After the tour, attendees were treated to a Halloween themed buffet at the park’s KT Grill. The "de-frightful" food included items in the shape of eyeballs, brains, and severed fingers. Attendees then mingled and enjoyed learning more about TEA, the TEA Asia Pacific Division and future events. (View the TEA Events page for future events.)

After dinner, attendees then explored HHN9’s five haunted houses and two scare zones. Most of Universal Studios Singapore’s rides were also open for enjoyment.

Many thanks to Resorts World Sentosa & Universal Parks & Resorts for their generous hospitality and support.
