80+ attendees for TEA EME Division mixer in Abu Dhabi: David Gray reports

Abu Dhabi, UAE - On July 4, the Europe & Middle East Division of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA EME) hosted a mixer for attractions industry professionals to meet and network.

Story by TEA International Board member David Gray of Oasis Enterprises LLC

The Iris Bar in Yas Marina provided the location for the gathering, which was generously sponsored by Ptarmigan Integration and Sanderson Group International Pty. Ltd..

As the daytime temperature of 43 degrees Celsius (109.4 degrees Fahrenheit) slowly slipped into a more humid evening, we started receiving the first of over 80 guests for the evening.

It was an excellent turnout - even more so considering the day was Tuesday - though the coincidental timing with the 4th of July helped make the evening more special for our 'colonial cousins.'"

Following successful bi-annual events in Dubai attended by many of the teams involved with IMG and Dubai Parks, it was Abu Dhabi's turn to showcase the talent and TEA members currently residing or working in the region in Warner Bros. and other exciting projects.

We were just a few weeks past a very successful TEA presence at the Asian Attractions Expo in Singapore, including a TEA mixer of which Ptarmigan was also a generous sponsor.

Ptarmigan Managing Director Simon Fraser expressed enthusiasm for the momentum of the TEA in its EME Division and its Asia Pacific Division (TEA also has two North America Divisions).

"We have to do this much more often," he said, echoing a comment we hear frequently, in one form or another, regarding TEA mixers wherever they occur, and that support is what continues to keep these events lively and comfortable.

The next TEA EME mixer in the region is being planned to take place in Dubai, and details will be announced later this summer.

There is no doubt that a TEA mixer is an ideal out-of-project or out-of-office get-together. We hope to see new and existing TEA members - and future members - continue to make these events a priority. --D.G.
