Harman sponsors TEA Shanghai mixer, attended by 75+ people in August 2017

Shanghai, China – The TEA Asia Pacific Division ventured to a new location for its bi-monthly industry Mixer in this city, on August 24, 2017: the long-time Shanghai favorite, Sasha’s Restaurant & Bar. Based on the response from the attendees, Sasha’s may quickly become a TEA favorite as well.

Report by Ron Merriman, MR ProFun; TEA Asia Pacific Board

The event, sponsored by Harman Professional Solutions, saw the best attendance for a Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) mixer in Shanghai this year, with more than 75 people on hand. TEA is especially grateful to Harman’s Tina Zhang and Alan Li for helping to make the event such a success.

The group was treated to a presentation on the dizzying array of audio-visual solutions available from Harman, delivered by Harman’s dedicated Themed Attractions expert, Bradford Benn, who made the trip all the way from the U.S. for the occasion.

Attendees were also able to rub shoulders with executive-level officials from IAAPA who happened to be in town during the event, including Doug Stagner (COO), Hal McEvoy (CFO), and June Ko (Asia VP). A special thanks to our friends at IAAPA for joining us!

Another highlight of the evening was TEA’s opportunity to share with attendees its plans for an exciting, upcoming event in Beijing. November 3-5 are the dates for the first TEA SATE conference to be held in the Asia Pacific region. The buzz around the room following the announcement suggested that it is going to be very well-received.

(SATE is TEA's definitive conference on Experience Design; this year, a SATE conference took place in Europe in the spring, and SATE 2017 Los Angeles will be held Oct 5-6.)

Looking ahead to the remainder of 2017, TEA will be hosting a special Halloween Edition Shanghai Mixer toward the end of October. It is hard to know what to expect from a group of Themed Entertainment professionals gathered for a Costume Party - but it surely will be an extraordinary display of creativity. We encourage our Asia Pacific industry community to plan to attend - details will be announced soon.

TEA Asia Pacific Division activities also include participation in regional conferences and trade events, participation in the annual IAAPA Asian Attractions Expo, and regular mixers in Beijing.
