Halloween in Germany - TEA excursion

On 11-12 Oct 2018, a group outing organized by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) brought together 22 fearless industry members to explore unique Halloween offerings in Bottrop, Germany.

The excursion was put together by the TEA Europe & Middle East Division (TEA EME).

The outing commenced Oct 11 by exploring Grusellabyrinth NRW and Phantom Manticore, then boldly ventured through a horror maze set in the local mines, as well as a gruesome, fairy tales based outdoor maze.

In the evening, we enjoyed refreshments - partly because we were hungry and thirsty, and partly to help ward off infection by vampires and zombies.

We also enjoyed a darkly illuminating Q&A with Grusellabyrinth co-founder Holger Schliemann.

The excursion continued on Oct 12 at Movie Park Germany, where the group enjoyed attractions such as the new Star Trek: Operation Enterprise coaster.

Lunch was at the Van Helsing Club in the park, followed by backstage, lights-on tours allowing the group to see the workings of two Halloween mazes with Manuel Prossotowicz (Director Marketing & Sales + Brand Development).

Later, after dark we again explored these same mazes as they are designed to be experienced by the guest.

One of the mazes, based on the Wrong Turn IP, takes guests on foot through a

passageway - a drained canal - that is a piece of Movie Park history: in its former existence it was part of the Ice Age flume ride.

Thanks to Grusellabyrinth NRW and Movie Park Germany for being such fantastic hosts and for sharing some of their scariest secrets with our TEA EME group!
