Tippett Studio hosts TEA mixer event for enthusiastic full house of 60 - Berkeley, 11 June 2018

In Berkeley, California on 11 June 2018, Tippett Studio opened its doors to members of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) for an industry mixer and open house.

The theme was "Bringing Cinematic Reality to Themed Entertainment." It was a full house with a total of 60 attending, and the second year in a row for this TEA member company playing the role of event host.

Corey Rosen, VP Creative Marketing, Tippett Studio provided this summary:

The June 2018 TEA event hosted by Tippett Studio was well-attended and jovial. We saw attendees from the local area as well as several who traveled some distance, including a producer from Los Angeles and a museum programmer from Arizona. We were pleased that a number of attendees were TEA NextGen members, looking to build their careers.

Networking took place and refreshments were enjoyed. There were raffle giveaways and reels shown in the Screening Room followed by a 20-minute Q&A with Phil Tippett and other studio VFX Supervisors about the process to create animation for themed entertainment.

Guests also were taken on tours of the studio including Stage and Workshop, where practical models, puppets, and sets were up. There was a photo-op as well, a backdrop with models.

From the Tippett Studio perspective, this was a great and successful event. Having the support of TEA Western North America Division Board members who are based in Northern California (Sean McChesney, Shane Grammer, Michael Boskovitch, and Kile Ozier) helped the event run smoothly - they assisted with set up, check in, and clean up after the party. We thank them and TEA for the support!

Experience Design: Themed Entertainment Association NextGen members undertake a creative exercise in Europe

The NextGen Initiative of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) brings students and recent graduates into the association to help acquaint them with the international attractions industry and build careers. Working with TEA leadership, TEA NextGen members within the TEA EME Division recently took a bold, hands-on approach and formed a team to develop a creative concept for a fictitious theme park. Appropriately, the idea for this mock project exercise emerged during a discussion at TEA SATE, the Association's signature conference on Experience Design.
