Wanda hosts TEA leaders for opening of new movie production complex in Qingdao, China

Qingdao, China, April 2018 -- VIP guests at the opening ceremony of Wanda Movie Metropolis included Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Immediate Past International President Steve Birket of Birket Engineering, and TEA Asia Pacific Division President Thomas Megna of Silkroading Entertainment.

Wanda Studios Qingdao, the centerpiece of the new Wanda Movie Metropolis, is an $8.2B USD commercial property investment by its parent company, Wanda Group. The 400-acre property features over 30 state-of-the-art sound stages, backlots, indoor and outdoor underwater studios, and post-production facilities. The ceremony included presentations by Wanda Group Chairman Wang and Qingdao Mayor Fanli.

Birket and Megna were hosted by Jin Wang, Dark Ride Group Vice President of TEA member company Wanda CTI. After the tour and rides on the Wanda Mall attractions, the group lunched with Wanda CTI President Wang, IAAPA Interim President Hal McEvoy, IAAPA Asia VP June Ko and other industry leaders.

The Wanda Movie Metropolis features extensive supporting facilities for movie and television production. Among them are the 2,000-seat Metropolis Theater and the impressive Wanda Mall with its indoor theme park, water park, and 30-screen theater, four-star resorts and hotels. The complex also includes a world-class international hospital, international school, yacht marina and club.

TEA values its relationship with Wanda Group, which recently hosted a TEA Presidents Forum in Orlando to showcase professional opportunities to the TEA membership.
