Simply put … there’s no place like Cedar Point. Located on a scenic peninsula jutting out into the waters of Lake Erie, Cedar Point is a unique American amusement park and resort paradise.

Cedar Point, the flagship park of Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, has a rich history dating back to 1870, making it the second-oldest operating amusement park in North America. What began as a simple bathing beach and bathhouse is today a modern, multi-day family getaway and a mecca for thrill-seekers; a 364-acre, world-class entertainment destination with more than 150 rides, shows and attractions. Cedar Point is consistently voted one of the “Best Amusement Parks in the World” in an international poll conducted by Amusement Today (a media outlet covering the industry).

Cedar Point is also known as the “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World!®” and to its credit the thrill ride innovations include many record-breaking bold and daring roller coaster creations. The park is home to the world’s first “hyper-coaster,” Magnum XL-200, the first “giga-coaster,” Millennium Force, the first-of-its-kind “strata-coaster,” Top Thrill Dragster, and coming in 2018, the world’s first “hyper-hybrid” roller coaster, Steel Vengeance.

Yet Cedar Point is so much more than great thrill rides and roller coasters. The Cedar Point Shores Waterpark provides 18 acres of attractions designed to help guests beat the heat, while the famous mile-long Cedar Point Beach and Boardwalk continues its legacy as a place to play, relax and cool off. Three kids’ areas - including Planet Snoopy, Camp Snoopy and Kiddy Kingdom - spectacular live shows, unique food offerings, special events like Cedar Point Nights, Brew and BBQ and HalloWeekends, the authentic coal-fired Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad, and even parasailing add to the multitude of activities for the entire family.

There’s also a wide variety of hotel accommodations to choose from, including the fully restored 1905 Hotel Breakers - a classic grand beachfront hotel; Sandcastle Suites lakefront hotel; Cedar Point Express Hotel; and Castaway Bay Indoor Water Park Resort, altogether totaling some 1,500 rooms. Plenty of restaurants; places to relax and unwind with nighttime concert events; and ferry boat excursions to nearby islands round out the many offerings that make Cedar Point a complete resort destination. From rides and attractions that can’t be found anywhere else on Earth, to pint-sized fun for kids and families, Cedar Point truly is a place like no other. -- 2017-18 TEA Thea Awards Committee
