Burbank, CA -- The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) announced that Chimelong Group has become Presenting Sponsor of the 24th Annual Thea Awards Gala, April 7, 2018 at Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, CA.

This will be Chimelong’s third time in the role of presenting sponsor for the Thea Awards Gala, a prestigious, international, black-tie event celebrating the finest accomplishments of the global attractions industry.

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Guangzhou, Chimelong Group Co., Ltd. is a conglomerate that owns and operates theme parks, luxury hotels, convention centers, high-end restaurants and leisure entertainment businesses. The company has stated its goal to become the top tourist organization in the world.

TEA International Board President David Willrich of DJ Willrich Ltd. said, “Chimelong is a game-changer in our worldwide industry as attraction development continues at a dramatic pace in Asia and especially China. Chimelong's support helps us to showcase and uphold our very best standards, across cultures and borders. Su Zhigang, Chairman of Chimelong Group Co., Ltd., began as a restaurateur in the late 1980s, opened his first hotel in the mid ‘90s and continued on to build a tourism and resort empire.

TEA's relationship with Chimelong Group has been growing for several years, and the company has been twice honored for its achievements with TEA Thea Awards. In 2015, Chimelong Ocean Kingdom (Hengqin, China) received a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement - Theme Park. In 2017, Chimelong received a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Attraction category, in recognition of the 5D Castle Theatre at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom.

TEA COO Jennie Nevin said, “Chimelong has become a prominent force in the global theme park space, and we’re pleased that includes stepping up to support TEA and the Thea Awards. We welcome Chimelong’s generous support for TEA’s biggest event of the year. This alliance is a symbol of international collaboration that will continue to characterize the themed entertainment industry as it grows globally.” #TEAtheas
