Michael Mercadante of Main Street Design will be next TEA International President in November 2018

Michael Mercadante

In November 2018, Michael Mercadante, President and Senior Exhibit Designer, Main Street Design, will become International Board President of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), after sitting president David Willrich of DJ Willrich Ltd., completes his second term.

Michael will take office with considerable prior service to TEA. He has served on the TEA International Board of Directors for the past six years, on the Executive Committee of the Board for the last five years, and, most recently, as Treasurer and head of the TEA Finance Committee.

Prior to that, he served on the TEA Eastern North America Division Board for three years, where he actively helped extend the organization's presence in the Northeast. As Treasurer and head of the TEA Finance Committee, Michael has been energetic and thorough in his efforts to ensure that TEA - a growing, international membership association founded in 1991 - would thrive financially and fiscally and continue to operate in the black.

"I look forward to continuing to advance the vision for TEA and building on the excellent work of David Willrich, and TEA Past President Steve Birket before him," said Michael.

"TEA has many excellent initiatives in place, and I want to make sure those and all activities are as great as they can be. The association has prospered over the last four years and I want to make sure our foundation is strong for the future."

David Willrich will pass the presidential gavel to Michael Mercadante in November, when TEA conducts its annual leadership changeovers at the annual TEA Membership Meeting held during the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando.

He earned his degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame, where his studies included a year abroad at the University’s architecture program in Rome, Italy. Since 1983 he has worked exclusively in the field of interpretive exhibit design. In addition to his service with TEA, Michael has served on the Program Committee of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
