More than 100 co-celebrants attend Thea Awards celebration in Shanghai, April 7-8, 2018

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Asia Pacific Division organized a special gathering in Shanghai the weekend of April 7- 8 to celebrate the 2018 TEA Thea Awards Gala, coinciding with the weekend that the actual Gala was taking place in Anaheim, CA USA at Disneyland Resort.

On Saturday, participants were treated to an exclusive on-site tour of Shendi properties (Shanghai Shendi Group is joint-venture partner on Shanghai Disneyland). This event, hosted by Henry Qiu and his team, led a group of 65 guests through an in-depth history of the park's development with a sneak peek of things to come.

On Sunday, the Thea Awards brunch took place at Shanghai Marriott with the support of Presenting Sponsor “Ctrip” as well as Gold Sponsor “The Sanderson Group” and Silver Sponsor “Forrec.”

This networking brunch was attended by more than 100 members of the themed entertainment industry, including representatives from companies such as Panasonic, Sanderson, Forrec, Shendi, Merlin Entertainments and Jiangsu Jingang, among many others.

A simultaneous celebration of the TEA Thea Awards took place

TEA Asia Pacific Division President Thomas Megna (CEO of Silkroading Tai) welcomed the group to this special event, which included several videos sharing insight on some of the the top companies in the themed entertainment world, and sharing information on upcoming attractions, events, and how to nominate a project for a Thea Award.

The Thea Awards Brunch in Shanghai connected via Skype to the Gala that was taking place in California, and Thomas Megna exchanged greetings with TEA International Board President David Willrich, and with the crowd of more than 800 people who were in the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel at the Gala.

Megna and his team then opened up the conversation to the brunch celebrants in Shanghai, allowing guests to ask questions and share their insight and experiences with other participants.

After the festivities, Thea Awards brunch guests were offered complimentary admission to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum Shanghai.

As always, the TEA gatherings help introduce and connect people and companies to one another, their affiliates and their clients. The goal is to strengthen the global themed entertainment industry as a whole and foster strong working relationships. We were pleased to see many new faces at this event, as we have at all events, showing that our endeavors are reaching people and achieving our goals for the TEA Asia Pacific Division.
