Mascot Hall of Fame Open Fur Fun

The Mascot Hall of Fame Interactive Children’s Museum (MHOF) is now open to the public. This 25,000-square-foot family attraction, located 30 minutes from Downtown Chicago, seeks to engage, educate, and entertain fans, school groups, and visitors through innovative, interactive, mascot-themed exhibits.

More than just a giant fun factory, the Mascot Hall of Fame’s exhibits incorporate S.T.E.A.M. education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to complement state and local curriculums, making it the ideal location for school groups and youth organizations. As students at MHOF’s fictional “Mascot University”, guests enjoy a whimsical romp through the museum’s various “departments”, including Fureshman Orientation, the Science of Silliness Lab, the Department of Mascot Studies, the Furry Arts Department, and the Department of Phuzzical Education. Along the way, they learn about such subjects as nutrition, geography, and the physics involved in building a mascot.

The MHOF will host year-round events that celebrate mascot fun for members and visitors. Annual mascot inductions will take place for professional and collegiate mascots who complete the application process, qualify for induction, and get voted into the Hall.

JRA provided master planning, writing and concept development, exhibit design, graphic design, executive media production, project management and art direction for the Mascot Hall of Fame, with fabrication provided by Chicago Scenic Studios, AV integration by Electrosonic, and interactive media content by Trivium Interactive. The attraction is expected to welcome 50,000 annual visitors and have a $241 million impact on the surrounding region over the next 20 years.

“Working with the MHOF team was fantastic," said JRA Senior Project Director, Rick O'Connell. "Not only was the subject matter wacky, fun and interesting, but so was the client!  The City of Whiting really wanted the best experience possible for their guests, so they allowed us to be as creative as we wanted and were very excited about all of the ideas we proposed.  So much so that almost nothing was cut from the initial concept!”

“It’s just so exciting and so amazing that we have a place that’s honoring, you know, the unsung heroes of sports, and really demonstrating how powerful they can be to distract us, to teach us, to entertain us," added David Raymond, MHOF Founder and the original Phillie Phanatic. "So, that’s my message today to everyone who is coming here and the people that want to come here that that’s what you’re going to get in this place. You’re going to come in with your whole family, of all ages, be distracted, have some fun, and feel better when you leave.”

The Mascot Hall of Fame Interactive Children’s Museum is located at 1851 Front Street in Whiting, Indiana, USA. For more information on the MHOF, including hours and ticketing, call (219) 354-8814 or visit www.mascothalloffame.com.
