Canyon Brings Home the Gold! 7 Awards in 4 Categories

Wow! Are we ever excited!

Canyon Creative received seven awards at the 2017 AGIA Las Vegas Work Show on October 14th. We won in a broad range of categories, including packaging design, websites and programming, interior design and illustration, and print design.

  • Carnival Cruise Lines Seafood Shack Interior Design, Gold
  • Wynn Las Vegas Chocolate Packaging, Gold
  • Website, Bronze
  • Wynn Las Vegas New Year’s Eve Invitation, Bronze
  • Wynn Las Vegas IMEX American Invitation, Bronze
  • Children’s Advocacy Alliance Marketing Materials, Merit
  • CIG Insurance Annual Report, Merit

We took the gold for Carnival Cruise Lines’ Seafood Shack Restaurant Interior Design. Initially developed for the cruise ship Vista, the successful concept is now onboard seven more ships, with another on the way. The client asked us to create the theming, a name, logo, menus, high-level story ideas, mood boards and custom signage. The nautical-themed concept we created is pure New England sea shanty style – with a modern twist – and vintage-looking, hand-drawn chalkboard signs. Designer:  Joslynn Hupe; Illustrator:  CJ Hughes.

The Wynn Las Vegas Chocolate Packaging, created for Wynn’s exquisite artisanal confectionary, Chocolat, also received gold recognition. The elegant boxes carry the Wynn branding throughout the design, which features subtle gold and orange foiling. When you open the boxes a deep, chocolate brown compliments the richness of the confections contained within. Creative Director:  Dale Sprague; Designer:  David Adler.

Magician, comedian, sleight-of-hand performer, actor and creative consultant, Ben Seidman, entrusted us with the creation of his award-winning website. Ben won the entertainer of the year award for Princess Cruises, co-starred in Magic Outlaws on the Travel Channel and taught Johnny Knoxville magic tricks for his film Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. He was featured on Penn & Teller: Fool Us on the CW and also served as writer and advisor on A&E’s Mindfreak, starring Criss Angel. He tours the world performing and is currently based in Los Angeles, where he performs at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. Creative Director:  Dale Sprague; Designer:  Joslynn Hupe; Programmer:  Bill Kracke.

The Wynn Las Vegas New Year’s Eve Invitation is a luxurious combination of sophisticated design, rich papers, intricate die-cuts, foil stamping and satin. Guests worldwide, lucky enough to receive the coveted invitation, opened a large and beautiful iridescent envelope to find a muted gold die-cut slipcase. When the slipcase was pulled open, it revealed a hardbound fold-over invitation which contained all the details of the two-day event – featuring Beyoncé, Billy Joel and a $1,000,000 baccarat tournament. Creative Director:  Dale Sprague; Designer:  Joslynn Hupe.

IMEX is a massive events convention with 5,500+ global decision makers from some of the biggest meeting markets in the world. This year’s event features 3,200 exhibitors from over 130 countries, and offers guests 180+ educational and networking events over four-days. During the event, Wynn Las Vegas offered 14 special events for invited convention guests. We created the Wynn IMEX Invitation which featured an embossed cover and individual sheets joined together by a gold grommet. Creative Director:  Dale Sprague; Designer:  Alicia Cobos.

Children’s Advocacy Alliance (CAA) is a Las Vegas-based community organization that mobilizes people, resources and reason to ensure every child has a chance to thrive and to make Nevada a better place to live and raise a family. We created the logo and developed an “advocacy kit” that included a colorful folder, business card, and all the materials the organization would need to make a presentation to potential donors, politicians, business owners and the general public. Creative Director:  Dale Sprague; Designers:  Alicia Cobos, Dale Sprague.

CIG Insurance, founded in 1898, is the leading regional property and casualty insurer serving the Western United States. We created the concept for the CIG Insurance Annual Report from three simple words that ultimately meant so much to the company:  Evolve, Solve and Involve. CIG was evolving:   they had a new executive team and were starting to make much-needed changes to corporate structure, methodologies and technologies. CIG was solving:  meaning they were proactively finding solutions to problems that had been setting up roadblocks and phasing in new ways to do things for the better. CIG was involving:  they are big supporters of the communities in which they live and do business. Their philosophy of giving back with community safety events, employee volunteerism, sponsorships and more has helped countless people and organizations. In addition to the usual items found in an annual report, the design featured contemporary design with large photos that transitioned from old to new and matte-finish half sheets showcasing relevant quotations. Creative Director:  Dale Sprague; Designers:  Joslynn Hupe and Dale Sprague; Writers:  Ann Sprague and CIG Staff.
