Storyland Studios Celebrates Poverty Encounter's TEA Thea

Storyland Studios, an experience design firm that helps brands connect their stories in three dimensions, congratulates Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF), a first-time recipient of the Themed Entertainment Association’s (TEA) Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement on a Limited Budget. Storyland contributed concept development and design for Poverty Encounter, a permanent exhibit, at the non-profit’s Los Angeles headquarters. The annual award brings recognition to achievement, talent and personal excellence within the themed entertainment industry.

IAAPA Cancels IAAPA Expo 2020 Due to COVID-19

Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians announce 200-acre Experiential Development in Sevierville

The 200-acre mixed-use development will be built on land purchased by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in January for $13.5 million. OE Experiences, a Knoxville-based firm, has been retained to identify the highest and best use of the development and to seek out development partners, according to a release.

COVID-19 Impact on U.S. Waterparks and Waterpark Resorts

The current COVID-19 crisis continues to have a significant negative effect on the waterpark industry. Waterparks play a major role in providing entertainment, supporting job creation, fostering small business opportunities, and contributing to robust economic growth. Due to COVID-19, many outdoor waterparks delayed their season openings while others have decided, or were mandated, not to open at all in 2020. Many resorts with waterparks and standalone indoor waterparks were forced to close for several months, and some have yet to reopen.

Indian Casino Amenities in a Post COVID-19 Era

As casino resorts prepare to reopen in the era of the coronavirus pandemic, operators are looking at how to best serve the needs of both their customers and team members in this new reality. The world has changed and Indian nations across the country are evaluating best practices, reopening plans, and business strategies to stop the hemorrhaging of cash flows and keep their Indian nations afloat, while providing a much needed source of entertainment for their customers. In the wake of reopening, the number of people allowed to gamble at most facilities will be reduced, as occupancy limits in gaming areas will be reduced. That being said, there are a number of opportunities and business strategies that operators can adopt during this transitional time that may lessen financial hardship and increase awareness of the measures being taken to mitigate the spread of the disease, while building customer and team member trust. With adaptive repurposing of existing space, increased communication, the use of technology, and changing the traditional process flow of casino amenities, operators who provide the most flexibility at their facilities have the greatest likelihood of weathering this storm.

Peanuts Worldwide announced that SN Garden, an eco-friendly development and planning company, opened Snoopy Garden, Korea’s first 20 acre nature-experience garden in Songdang-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju, on July 17.
