100th Grey Cup Festival named 2012 Canadian Sport Event of the Year

On April 10, the 100th Grey Cup Festival was named Canadian Sport Event of the Year for 2012 by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA). The nine-day, ten-night Festival took place in November, leading up to the CFL’s 100th championship game.   More than 300,000 people attended festival events across the city of Toronto –  from interactive zones and games, concerts, pep rallies, player appearances and more.

Toronto Argonauts and 100th Grey Cup Festival Executive Chairman & CEO, Chris Rudge remarked,

“On behalf of the 100th Grey Cup Festival committee, I would like to thank the CSTA for recognizing the Festival as an important celebration of sport and culture in Canada. There are many people who deserve thanks for the tremendous success of the Festival, but the true champions were the citizens of Toronto who welcomed the rest of Canada with open arms. We promised an Invitation to Our Nation and delivered an event that Canadians and Torontonians embraced and further enhanced the Grey Cup as an iconic symbol of our country’s heritage.”

BaAM, along with Accucom and the 100th Grey Cup Festival Committee, was at work more than a year in advance to plan and prep for this once-in-a-lifetime event. We designed and project managed a number of event sites including Nissan Family Zone at Yonge-Dundas Square, mbna Adrenaline Zone at Nathan Phillips Square, and the Re-creation of the 1950Mud Bowl at SATEC @ WA Porter Collegiate Institute.  BaAM also developed the festival pageantry program, which created the overall look for the festival, giving it high impact and easily recognizable branding across Festival sites.

Congratulations to all those who contributed to such a successful and unforgettable event!
