Chocolate Kingdom Theme Park designed by KCC Entertainment Design opened doors today!

On December 31st, 2020  a grand ceremony held at the delightful Chocolate Castle, the centrepiece of the park, celebrated the opening of this new theme park near Guangzhou, China.

The project is developed by China Aoyuan Group Limited, a Guangzhou property development group, and China Cultural Tourism group. It is their first jointly developed theme park.

Besides the top management of these two companies and officials from the local government, Ms Eva Verstraelen from Flanders Investment & Trade addressed the numerous attendees. During her speech she emphasized on the 2 major Flemish contributions in this project – the theme of the Chocolate as exquisite Belgium product and KCC Entertainment design as the “creative engine behind this Chocolate Kingdom”.

This opening on the last day of 2020 symbolizes the closing of a very difficult year for the entertainment industry worldwide. It also symbolizes the trust and positive look towards the future. Now, more than ever, entertainment is at the centre of bringing people together and creating memorable experiences.

The Chocolate Kingdom theme park is part of a bigger mixed used development of 533 hectares with hotels, residential area, a tea and chocolate town with restaurants and retail and the Spring Forest Water World.

The design of the park is created by the hands of KCC Entertainment Design, a Belgium based company and is the 7th successful entertainment destination in China designed by KCC.

After 4 years of intense design and construction and despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the 18 hectares theme park can now be visited.

‘In Belgium, we have the most amazing and tasteful chocolate in the world.’ says CEO of KCC Entertainment Design Mr. Yannick Maes.

‘When the Aoyuan group invited KCC as the lead designer of their chocolate theme park we were extremely excited! Our team went all the way in gaining extra knowledge (and weight) about chocolate and created an amazing immersive story as the DNA of the park’.

The park consists out of 4 zones with the entrance area themed as a medieval village hiding the entrance to the secret chocolate kingdom.

‘In the village we have placed a unique ferris wheel on top of the central entrance buildings providing the visitors with a great overview of the park.
The 3 other zones were inspired by 3 types of chocolate: milk, white and dark. All 3 of these worlds have their specific look, atmosphere, story and even mascots and together they form the magical Chocolate Kingdom.’ Says Yannick.

‘We also ensured that there is a indoor family entertainment centre that can function independently from the theme park and year round. This ‘Chocolate Factory’ contains over 10 activities and attractions including a DIY chocolate workshop, a coaster and a chocolate museum.’

In total the park has 27 attractions for all ages groups and tastes. The flying swing tower, the flume ride and the ferris wheel are only some of the highlights in the park. The Chocolate castle will host daily spectacles and shows which will use this mouth-watering building as the stage.

With its 66m (which is approximately the same height as the Disneyland Castle in Shanghai) the castle is the centrepiece of the park and visible from far away!

Located in Yingde, only 2 hours’ drive from the metropolis Guangzhou the park expects to have over 1 million visitors each year.

KCC Entertainment Design is currently very active at designing (and building) new and unique entertainment destinations worldwide.

10 projects designed and build by KCC Entertainment Design will be opening in 2021.

Meanwhile more amazing and renewing entertainment centres and experience projects are being designed by KCC Entertainment Design in China, South-East Asia, Europe, the Middle East and USA.

Yannick Maes: ‘2020 was an extremely difficult year for our industry, but it also showed our versatility! More than ever we are confident that entertainment is a cornerstone of life and with the great team at KCC we will continue creating amazingly fun, never seen before destinations!’
