A two-hour TEA NextGen Experience Cafe event was held April 22 at Jackson, Tennessee’s Union University Harvey Auditorium. Union University is a 4-year liberal arts college. Hosted by Engineering Dean Dr. Jeannette Russ and Professor Dr. Randal Schwindt, the event included presentations by TEA members, a student Q&A session and reception. Presenting were members Brad Nelms of lighting systems integrator 4Wall, Sylvia Matiko of management consultants A Different View, Kelly Devine of architects Hnedak Bobo Group, and Tom King and TEA President Steve Birket of ride & show systems integrator Birket Engineering. Presentations included talks on the themed entertainment industry, career paths, applicable college studies, and making industry connections. Previous NextGen-focused events have been held at Cornell and Carnegie-Mellon universities. Thanks to Union University for hosting this promising event - TEA is very pleased to be in a dialog with you!

We received a gracious followup note from Dr. Russ, who wrote,

"I think TEA is a great fit for our program in many ways, so I hope this event will be the first of many! ...I have great admiration for all you have accomplished. I want to let you know how much I appreciate the seminar and the chance to visit. I personally enjoyed it, and the students loved it! Their comments have been extremely complimentary, using words like 'incredible' and 'awesome' to describe the presentation.  It was our great pleasure to host the group."
