TEA Presents “REINVENTION” SATE Global 2021

Accepting that it would not be possible to safely gather in person for any SATE conferences initially planned for 2020, TEA leadership brought together Co-Chairs Shannon Martin, Christine Kerr and David Willrich to develop a plan for a digital version of SATE with a truly global perspective. The result of the ongoing planning and program development will be TEA’s first ever SATE Global Series.

The Co-Chairs bring global experience in developing SATE conferences around the world and are committed to effectively representing our global TEA membership. Their first step was to bring together a diverse Content Curation Team made up of thinkers and thought leaders who represent the voices of our industry, our global membership, and our stakeholders. We will share more about each of these creative voices in the near future.

SATE Global 2021 Content Curation TEAm:

The team’s first focus was to develop a theme and explore the possibilities for the most effective presentation approach for a virtual conference.

Since first meeting in July 2020, the group has explored a variety of scenarios for SATE Global. Consideration was originally given to an on-line version of the traditional SATE program over 2 days plus a Mixer. Ultimately this idea was rejected after considering everyone’s collective experience of webinar and digital presentation fatigue.

We watched Thea Awards Digital Case Studies programming carefully and attended as many TEA Digital presentations as we could. We participated in many on-line conferences and webinars for our industry and various related creative programs.

In October, a “series” approach was proposed for SATE Global, with presentations spread out over a few months starting in May of 2021. TEA leadership agreed this approach was the right one and would dovetail well with other planned TEA Digital programming. The TEA SATE Global Series was born.

As a brand, we see this as the launch of an exciting new chapter for TEA SATE. The 2021 digital series will empower us to remain connected and to embrace a global perspective, fueling our industry’s creative minds as we look ahead to a return to in person events in the months ahead.

Now we are diving into the fantastic responses received in response to our Call for Presentations (newly extended to January 13). This will allow us to finalize our program and schedule. Stay tuned for more on the SATE Global 2021 series from TEA.

Every member is an integral part of the TEA - and the Town Hall gives each of us the chance to talk about how things are going, to share our progress, to recognize our growing pains and acknowledge the missteps we will make along the way.
