TEA General Contractors Showcase Recap
Last week, TEA hosted the first-ever General Contractors Showcase event, created to help introduce members to area general contractors and better understand their needs. More than 70 attendees took part in the casual evening, which focused on making connections and building partnerships. The event’s presenting sponsor, PCL Construction, welcomed attendees, along with representatives from general contractors Balfour Beatty and Whiting-Turner.
The shared theme of partnership united everyone. The GC panel discussed projects that require themed elements for projects in theme parks and zoos, retail and restaurant locations, office spaces, and more. As PCL’s Wade Brooks told everyone, “Successful projects require solid partnerships with contractors and subcontractors. We want you to be successful with us.”
Conversations continued throughout the night, highlighting recent projects in the themed entertainment area, including the grand opening of Universal Epic Universe and other work at Central Florida’s theme parks. “There is a lot of work coming up for all of us,” said Whiting- Turner’s John Carrel. “We are always looking for new partnerships.”
TEA Eastern North America Division Board Member, Denise Hatcher invited each contractor to discuss their needs and, most importantly, share how TEA members can partner with their project teams. Each representative encouraged attendees to begin by prequalifying their companies online: PCL Construction, Whiting-Turner, and Balfour Beatty.
The General Contractors Showcase is the latest example of how TEA works to build bridges and help connect TEA members with decision-makers and projects across all lines of business. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future. Thank you to UCF’s MS Themed Experience Program, 4 Rivers Smokehouse Catering, and to TEA’s Eastern Division Board Members and volunteers who helped make the evening possible.
