Personal Bio: I'm a life long attractions enthusiast. Through getting in touch with my local park, Drayton Manor, I managed to retrieve old ride props and animatronics, which I am now in the process of preserving and restoring, using solenoid valves and pneumatic/electrical components. I've also retrieved old ride concept art pieces, which came about through liaising with British attraction designers, which has allowed me to compile archives of historical ride material, and learn about the design of rides in the process.
I've conducted formal video based interviews of numerous figures in the industry to learn more about the world of entertainment, including a former TEA president, Nick Farmer. This gave me a real insight in to the process behind building attractions; the challenges, but also the enjoyment and learning experiences from the field of work . I also interviewed Mark Golding, the CEO of Space Leisure, where we discussed masterplanning entire themed areas and buildings in a park, designing theme park entrances, and also the design and planning of individual rides and roller coasters. I was also given a tour around a theme park design studio in Leicester, to observe how props are fabricated, and how ideas translate in to physical reality, for the sake of guest immersion!
My interests are attraction design, both in the technical front of design (fabrication, pneumatics, programming, lighting, and building) , and in the creative front of design (drawing, graphics, scriptwriting, and ideas). I'm still in the process of building a portfolio, but would love to connect with the TEA to learn more , before jumping in to the deep end. I recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a double honours Bsc in Economics and Pol Science. This has given me a good perspective on the business perspective of things, and I now feel I can complement this with a more creative and technical perspective.
If given the possibility, I'd love to create dark rides, interactive museum exhibits/historical sets, themed walkthroughs, themed restaurants, visitor landmarks, and much more in the world of entertainment ! Above all else, I want to give other people feelings of excitement, wonder, intrigue and joy. And I'll go above and beyond to achieve that
