Personal Bio: Colonel Peter Crean, USA (Ret.) is the Vice President of Education and Access at the National World War II Museum. Joining the Museum following his retirement from the Army in 2017, he is responsible for all of the content departments including Collections and Exhibits, Education, the Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy, and the WWII Media Center. Over a nearly 30 year career, Colonel Crean held leadership positions from Lieutenant to Colonel in operational units in the 82d Airborne Division, the 21st Theater Army Area Command (Germany), the 3rd Infantry Division (24th CSG), and the 101st Airborne Division. He served overseas for five years in Germany, and two years as an exchange officer with the Canadian Forces Joint Support Group in Canada and Afghanistan. His deployments include Operation Desert Shield/Storm, the Balkans between 1995-97, and multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His final assignment before retiring from Active Duty was as the Director of the US Army Heritage and Education Center at the US Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The AHEC includes the Army’s historical archive, its largest library and one of its largest museums, all focused on “telling the Army story, one soldier at a time.” Since joining the Museum in 2017, he has been involved in the construction of the Hall of Democracy pavilion, the Higgins Hotel, the Liberation Pavilion, as well as numerous educational programs, exhibits, and the Museum’s Voices From the Front oral history interactive experience. In 2025 he was honored to be selected to receive the Thea Award on behalf of the Museum for its Priddy Family Foundation Liberation Theater. He holds a Master of Science degree in logistics management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the US Army War College, where he was also a graduate of the Advanced Strategic Arts Program. He also serves as the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (CASA) for southern Louisiana.
