MEET OUR THEA AWARD RECIPIENT FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT: MUSEUM LIMITED BUDGET

THE IRISH RACEHORSE EXPERIENCE
Kildare, Ireland

Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement- Museum, Limited Budget

Overview
  • The Irish Racehorse Experience takes the visitor on a personalized journey tracing the story of a yearling through its coming-of-age stages of an Irish thoroughbred horse. Visitors will have insider’s guide to this fascinating world by interacting with industry experts. Keen perspectives that requires respect, knowledge, responsibilities, and the dedication necessary to be an owner, a foaling manager, or an internationally recognized thoroughbred trainer will be realized.

What sets this attraction apart?
  • The Irish Racehorse Experience in Kildare, Ireland, is a low budget project in a 6500 sq ft facility, nestled in beautiful garden settings where visitors can view firsthand yearlings and famous horses in the Living Legends paddock. The objective is to enhance expert and non-expert visitors alike by immersing them in the excitement and thrill of horse ownership and professional horse racing. Throughout the various exhibits, visitors from around the world are audio guided in their individual languages to engage in personalized multi-sensory technologies and compelling hands-on, interactive experiences. Culminating their visit, a group of eight visitors will have the opportunity to test their individual competitive spirit and find out if their horse is a winning thoroughbred in the “Big Race”. This interactive is a large-curved screen digital game combined with a physical mechanical horse that has the visitors assume a position similar to a jockey. Each of the eight visitors will ride their own selected horse in a simulated race with actual reciprocating motions of the horse’s head, hand grips, and seat, thus experiencing a real-life stretching motion by each visitor’s bodies while riding their horse to the finishing line. The Irish Racehorse Experience Museum uniquely showcases an industry that very few people have the privilege of knowing.

How long did the project take to complete?
  •  From Design onwards approximately 25 Months.

Behind the Scenes
  • We got to travel to Amsterdam to work with the developers testing and riding the horse simulator.
