by Melissa Oviedo, TEA International Board President
Last week, I gave a brief summary of the International Board Executive Committee’s trip to China and Hong Kong and our incredible Global Partners who made this trip possible. The goals for this trip were determined by TEA’s core values – Connection, Creativity, Inclusivity, Thought Leadership, Innovation, and Celebrating Excellence. One of the trip’s highlights was the chance to share TEA’s Thought Leadership with key business owners in Hong Kong and Macau. The U.S. Consulate and the Department of Commerce facilitated discussions, exploring the future of themed environments in these regions. Architects, developers, and owners/operators, presented their current challenges, opening the door for TEA’s members to offer resources in master planning, project management, program management, and attraction development. Throughout our discussions, TEA's role in providing best practices and guiding them through the process became evident. The challenges faced by this emerging market can mostly be solved by connecting with the right partner. TEA is able assist these organizations by helping them know what questions to ask and who to call to help solve their problems. We’re grateful for our discussion at the offices of the U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong & Macau and proud of this opportunity to solidify TEA’s position as a Thought Leader in the themed entertainment industry. Thank you to our incredible Global Partners located in China and Hong Kong. This trip would not have been possible without them.
